There was a point when Alexander Brenninkmeijer realized that he wanted something different for his life. He wasn’t sure exactly where he would end up, but if there was one thing he was certain about, it was that his stint with C&A – one of Germany’s biggest clothing department stores – was over. Brenninkmeijer took a sabbatical and toured the world. After a year of contemplation, a friend in the fashion business who was just starting out in the early 2000’s asked Brenninkmeijer for his support. It was Kostas Murkudis.
They worked together for several years before Brenninkmeijer decided to tour the country, then most of Europe, with his newest collection. His label, Clemens en August, first made waves in London, then Munich, and now, Berlin.
