A bicycler's most common cause for dismay is the flat tire, without a doubt. If you don't have enough time to fix your tires or simply don't know how, it's time to give Norbert Winkelmann a call. His Rad Ambulanz, a mobile bicycle repair service, has been successfully fixing Berlin bikes for nine years.

“I had to move to Berlin for personal reasons and needed to find something to do to make a little money” explains Winkelmann, who's been tinkering with bikes for a good 30 years now. Order Winkelmann directly to the site of your break down and never worry about dragging your bike to a repair shop again – that is, if you live in the Western part of town. The East has its own suppliers.

Winkelmann will swing himself onto his transport bike and repair yours on the very day he gets your call, equipped with small parts, tubes, brake cables and taillights. “In 95 per cent of all cases, the damage is easily taken care of. If not, I'll come back a second time” says Winkelmann, who'll only pass on more complex cases like bent frames. But he knows a number of good repair shops – although you'll have to get your bike there yourself.
