Richardplatz is a raw gem in Neukölln, which is why it will only be a matter of time before rents go way up here. Still, with all the bickering about gentrification in this part of town, it takes balls to open up a café in Rixdorf. During their first week, Grreenstuff was broken into three times. "It's not the same as Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg" says Roland Heine, who has also been running the Little Buddha organic bistro with Inken Planthaber on Mareschstraße around the corner for several years. This also explains the double "r" spelling of their new café's name. "It stands for this Grr-feeling in Neukölln and it's also a nod to the Pirate party, whom we support and that sign all of their official letters with an 'arr'." The house at the corner to Zwiestädter Straße used to store film equipment from a studio in Potsdam. Heine and Planthaber fixed up the space and have been selling organic pasta, wines, tofu and even organic puffs there, as well as coffee, tea and mouth-watering homemade apple pie.
