We recently published a piece about Maxime Boillat and the .HBC Club Restaurant in Mitte. Boillat described his guests as the types of people that want to decide within the course of the night if they'd like to end it at the restaurant bar or rather the adjoining club. In fact, the last years have seen a downright boom of clubs-turned-club-restaurants in the city. We would like to let you in on our five favorites.
Backyard Charm: Cookies Cream
The first news are that Cookie has doffed his trademark hat. The man that has seemingly opened and re-opened his legendary club in different locations around town a dozen times has now settled at a fixed address – in a backyard behind the stage entrance at Komische Oper, in a building that once housed a small movie theater. The former projection room is now a restaurant with an open kitchen that is home to head chef Stephan Hentschels ambitious vegetarian menus. On occasion, Hentschel will emerge from behind the stove to step behind a set of turntables and heat things up before a long Berlin night.
Down Under: The Asphalt-Restaurant

Marie-Ann Raue knows that clubgoers have very unique dining habits. To get night owl epicureans exactly what they crave, Raue and her husband Tim have chosen Alexander Rost, himself a night owl, to whip up “Urban Dining” favorites based on the Asian nouvelle cuisine Rost had picked up from Raue. The restaurant opens at 8 and the club at 10, but on Wednesdays, both merge for Jazz and Dinner, with ceviche and lobster served to sax and piano tunes.

Big Event Location: Mio

The newest addition to our list couldn't be located any more centrally – it's inside the TV tower on Alexanderplatz. And that's not all: Mio boasts white lounge chairs and a ceiling light installation made of over half a million Swarovski crystals and color-changing LED lamps on the walls, touchscreen tables that not only take food orders but also have built-in cameras to spy on neighboring tables. The menu is well attuned to the tourist clientele and caters to early birds and night owls alike, so whether it's dining, lounging or clubbing, ravioli or pizza, pop or funk you're looking for – you've come to the right place.

Low-key: Kreuz Friedrichs

While a fire crackles in the corner, a couple of guests sit with an aperitif or a glass of wine waiting for their next course. There's a glass cube in the center of the restaurant that shields a bamboo tree growing up to the ceiling. Timber blockings line the walls, a window bears insights into the kitchen. The building is a provisional solution and looks its part, but does so without affecting the restaurant's cozy atmosphere. The menu features high class German cuisine with a mediterranean touch and a fine selection of bottled and open wines.

The Establishment: White Trash Fastfood

White Trash holds its own, unrefuted position as one of Berlin's top culinary-slash-party locations. Known not only for its superb American burgers – there's even one served with an entire octupus – Walter Potts' rock 'n roll themed restaurant and concert venue is a guarantee for wild nights. “Sometimes, the concerts will go with the normal restaurant business, but sometimes we take it down to the basement” says Gina Kerscher, who's responsible for the booking.
